Bluet History

1978

Cops and Robbers: Michael and Eric begin a lifetime of playing together immediately upon meeting in 4th grade. A contentious Twixt championship game still surfaces occasionally.

1990s

California winemaking and story telling: Michael finds a job turning grapes into wine while Eric bangs out his first novel.

1999

A wedding in a barn: Hannah and Michael meet, get hitched in aunt Ceci and uncle David's old barn in Jefferson, Maine, the site where Bluet's first vintage would be made 15 years later.

2012

The vintage before the first: Michael persuades his father George to lovingly tend, day and night, an experimental ferment of wild blues in his Rockland garage with very tasty results.

2014

Legitimate, legal, labeled wine: Eric and Michael make the first sellable wine back in the Jefferson wedding barn with Cavendish canoe, moose head, and a '57 Dodge bearing witness.

2018

A cooper transitions: Ed Lutjens joins Bluet after making Maine white oak barrels for Bluet during the early years.

2022
